FAA ASCENT Complements VLRCOE Rotorcraft Research

Penn State works on several rotorcraft-related projects through the FAA ASCENT program.

These include:

• Project 38: Rotorcraft Noise Abatement Procedures Development
• Project 49: Urban Air Mobility Noise Reduction Modeling
• Project 77: Measurement to Support Noise Certification for UAS/UAM vehicles and Identify Noise Reduction Opportunities.

Composed of seven graduate students and four faculty, the FAA ASCENT projects continue to further the understanding of vertical lift aircraft.
